During a conversation with Khmelnytskyi residents, President Petro Poroshenko stressed the importance of preserving unity on the eve of the elections and remembering that the Kremlin will never reconcile with the path chosen by Ukraine towards membership in the European Union and NATO. “Shelling and provocations in the east take place every day. Almost every day Ukraine buries its heroes … The Kremlin refuses to fulfill its international obligations … Putin continues the hybrid war against Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The President noted that he reminded all that on the eve of March 31: “We need to feel the real stakes in these elections. Perhaps, not everyone sees them behind the names of the candidates. Putting a mark in the ballot paper, each of us will answer the question: can we preserve independence from Russia; can we resist the attempts of the Kremlin to pull Ukraine back into the empire; can Ukrainians prevent Putin’s revenge; will they reject the candidates suitable for him at the elections of the President and the Verkhovna Rada”.

The Head of State once again warned that the Russian president intended to split the unity of Ukrainians.

“Demonstrative provocations have become more frequent in recent weeks. For it became clear that patriotism and common sense of Ukrainians beat the parade of political technologies. Now they clearly want to transform the electoral campaign in the format of street clashes. The enemy seeks to shed Ukrainian blood. This is no longer a technology. This is an attempt to disrupt the elections. And this is definitely not a Ukrainian scenario,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The President emphasized: “Our Ukrainian scenario is to conduct a transparent and fair election process, to ensure a fair vote count. Only then will we be able to continue the course of the last five years. Only this way will we build a great Ukraine, a country of free, happy and wealthy people”.

“My first appeal to all Ukrainians is the following: do not fall for provocations or false promises of heavenly paradise tomorrow. Do not think that Putin will believe those candidates who already say that they will come to him on their knees begging for forgiveness with tears in their eyes. Remember: Moscow does not believe tears,” he said, adding that the Kremlin respects strength only and it will not overcome the strength of Ukrainians unless it splits our unity.

“And one more request – do not trust the TV talk shows, because they often turn into fairs of lies and hypocrisy. Do not believe the dirt planned to pour on me and my team in the next two weeks,” Petro Poroshenko noted.

“I want to tell you – we are united and we are invincible. No one will divide us and no one will beat us. In the hardest days, we have kept our faith in victory. I do not believe that the dirt and fake news will force us, the great Ukraine and the great Ukrainians, to retreat from our path now,” the Head of State summed up.
