Poroshenko Foundation signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Google Ukraine and the Ministry of Education on the organization of inclusive education
The parties agreed to conduct training for Ukrainian teachers on the use of digital educational tools in the framework of the New Ukrainian School program.
Wife of the President of Ukraine, chairman of the Poroshenko Foundation Maryna Poroshenko together with Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Liliya Hrynevych and Director of Google Ukraine Dmytro Sholomko signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the organization of education for people with special educational needs.
The parties agreed to conduct training for Ukrainian teachers on the use of digital educational tools in the framework of the New Ukrainian School program. Also, the common tasks are the organization of seminars, trainings and topical researches for the introduction of standards of inclusiveness in the educational sphere.
According to Maryna Poroshenko, “modern digital technologies open up broad prospects for improving the quality and accessibility of education for people with special educational needs, promoting equal access to information and educational services, as well as full integration into society”. “And this is in line with the provisions of the key international document in the field of inclusive education – the Salamanca Statement,” she emphasized.
Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Liliya Hrynevych emphasized that “the cornerstone of the New Ukrainian School is the creation of an open, inclusive environment in which each child will have a full range of opportunities to discover his own talent”. “At present, almost 15 thousand children with special educational needs already study in inclusive classes and groups. Our task is to create appropriate conditions for them, and one can do this only with the effective use of digital technologies,” the Minister emphasized.
Director of Google Ukraine Dmytro Sholomko said that one of Google’s core values was equal opportunities for everyone. “Special attention is paid to the issues of inclusiveness and accessibility, which is reflected in our digital instruments as well. Therefore, we are glad to share the expertise on the implementation of digital inclusive standards in education. We are hopeful that the opportunity of cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Poroshenko Foundation will achieve truly significant and large-scale results,” Dmytro Sholomko noted.
