“The thing Moscow wants the most is to undermine the process of our European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The fifth column participates in the elections under the slogan of non-alignment renewal,” President Petro Poroshenko said during his conversation with Lviv residents.

The President noted that in February 2014, when the annexation of Crimea began, he was in Simferopol and did everything possible to demonstrate to the world that the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea was empty and did not make any decisions. “At that time, Ukraine had a status of non-alignment and it did not protect us from anything. But no matter how much they would grovel at Medvedev’s feet, hear me from Lviv – Ukrainians will not elect Boyko and Medvedchuk to the post of the President. This will never happen,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.

He also emphasized that the movement of Ukraine towards the EU and NATO membership was a clear commitment envisaged in his program. “Other candidates avoid it for some reason. And I do not believe it is a coincidence. Such an omission in their program is their clear message to Putin about their willingness to trade the national interests,” he added.

The President reminded that due to the signing of the Association Agreement and the DCFTA with the EU, Ukraine had become closer to the European Union and was able to increase the export of its products to the European market. “The deal opened new markets for sales and allowed to survive in the most difficult economic period when Russia introduced an economic blockade against us,” he said. The Head of State also recalled the introduction of the visa-free regime, which allowed Ukrainians to travel freely to the EU countries.
