Millions of Muslims around the world are celebrating the Eid al-Adha religious holiday on Sunday.

The day is marked with the sacrifice of an animal, usually a goat, sheep, or cow, and the distribution of the meat among neighbours, family members, and the poor.

Muslims in Ukraine celebrated the start of the Eid al-Adha holiday on Aug. 11, 2019, by gathering at their local mosque for the Kurban-Bayram, a day which marks the start of their sacred holiday, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice. The holiday honors the willingness to sacrifice in service to God and is marked by hundreds of millions of Muslims around the world.
