Denmark pledges $ 350 million military aid package for Ukraine
The Danish government is also set to increase its Industry Fund by 500 million kroner (about $71 million) to procure new weapons and equipment for Ukraine.
The Danish government has announced a new 2.4 billion kroner ($350 million) military aid package for Ukraine, marking the country’s 21st aid initiative aimed at supporting Ukraine’s defence efforts against Russia. The package, presented by the Danish Ministry of Defense, focuses on military support and long-term capacity building for Ukraine’s defense sector.
A key component of the aid package is a 500 million Danish kroner ($71 million) increase to the Industry Fund in 2025, which will be used to procure new weapons and military equipment. Additional funds will be allocated for air defense systems in partnership with Germany, contributions to the British-led International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), and donations from Denmark’s defense stockpiles.
The IFU, established by the UK in 2022, plays a central role in coordinating international military support for Ukraine by pooling resources from donor countries to streamline procurement of military equipment. Denmark’s increased contribution signals ongoing international efforts to support Ukraine’s defense.
“Ukrainians continue to fight tirelessly against Putin’s brutal attacks on the country. Denmark must continue to show its support for Ukraine,” said Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen. His sentiments were echoed by Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, who added, “Ukraine’s fight is the fight of all free Europe. I am also pleased that, together with close European allies, we are again delivering on Ukraine’s acute needs.”
While the package includes agreements with international partners to donate high-priority equipment to aid Ukraine in building new brigades, specific details remain confidential due to operational and security concerns.
This aid package builds on previous commitments, including a memorandum of understanding signed in late September for arms acquisitions totaling 4.2 billion kroner ($629 million) through the Ukrainian defense industry. Additionally, Denmark has pledged 130 million kroner ($19.4 million) to help Ukraine rebuild its energy infrastructure, which has been repeatedly targeted by Russian attacks.
Denmark’s multi-faceted support comes at a critical time, as Ukraine continues to face severe damage to its energy infrastructure from daily Russian airstrikes.
