Winter Olympics 2018: Russian athlete suspected of violating anti-doping rules

The headquarters of the Russian delegation at the Winter Olympic Games-2018 received a message from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) about a possible violation of anti-doping rules by a sportsman. This was stated by the press attache of the team “Olympic athletes from Russia” Konstantin Vybornov, reports “Interfax”.

The name of the athlete and the kind of sport will be known after the results of the  doping test opening within 24 hours.

“Today, the headquarters of our delegation received an official notification from the IOC about a possible violation of the anti-doping rules. We do not call the name of the athlete, as well as the sport prior to the results of the opening of sample B, which will become known within 24 hours,” Vybornov said.

Previously, the media reported that in the doping test of the Russian curler Alexander Krushelnitsky could be found traces of meldonium, but there is no official confirmation of this.

We recall, Russian athletes perform at the Games under a neutral flag, in the overall classification they are called “Olympic athletes from Russia.”

Before this, the IOC refused to admit 15 justified Russians to the 2018 Olympics.
