This photo was taken at the entrance stairs – a local was burning rubbish nearby and the smoke mingled with the sunlight filtering through the trees to create a magical quality to the pathway.”

However, habitat destruction by logging and mining (most of it illegal) keeps on lowering the numbers of this magnificent great ape.”
