Сurrent situation in the market makes it possible not to raise the price of gas – President

The Head of State remarked that he quoted the relevant information published by Naftogaz and the Government of Ukraine.

President Petro Poroshenko predicts the possibility of not raising the price of gas due to the change in the wholesale price on gas markets. “Сuгrrent situation in the market makes it possible not to raise the gas price in May,” Petro Poroshenko said on Ukraine TV channel.

The Head of State remarked that he quoted the relevant information published by Naftogaz and the Government of Ukraine.

“To date, the wholesale price has changed in gas markets. There was a corresponding notification of the Ukrainian Government, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman announced that, and of Naftogaz that the situation allows not to raise tariffs. And I will stand firmly on the position that today’s situation with prices, the profitability of NJSC Naftogaz and the increase in efficiency – because we have started to consume less gas … ” Petro Poroshenko said.

“If our energy efficiency improvement program, our energy saving program, our program to increase domestic production is continued – Ukraine will be energy independent starting from 2023. We will stop buying imported gas,” the Head of State stressed.

Petro Poroshenko stressed that this would be a step towards a real market decline in gas prices.
