You stand in defense of the independence of our state as a rock – The Head of State presented state awards to paratroopers of the 95th brigade

During the working visit to Zhytomyr region, President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko visited the 95th separate assault brigade. The President presented state awards to the servicemen for personal merits in defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless actions and exemplary fulfillment of military duty.

“I want to tell you, as President and as Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, I am proud of the Ukrainian army, I am proud of such warriors as you. Very few armies in the world have such skills, experience and such ability to gain victories in the most difficult conditions. Thank you for serving Ukraine, for your courage and dedication,” the President addressed the Ukrainian paratroopers.

The Head of State reminded the heroic way of the brigade during the battles against the Russian aggressor and mercenaries of the Kremlin in the east of Ukraine. “You did everything for the sake of freedom, sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of our state,” Petro Poroshenko said and mentioned a unique military raid of the 95th brigade by the enemy’s rear, which allowed not only to liberate the Ukrainian territory, but also to withdraw other Ukrainian units that were in a hostile environment.

“On behalf of the Ukrainian people, as President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, I express my sincere gratitude to the 95th brigade, to the entire staff of the assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. You stand in defense of the independence of our state as a rock. Thanks to you, thanks to our army, the Ukrainian people can work and change the country – a great, authoritative country of free, prosperous and happy people,” Petro Poroshenko noted.

The President noted that many heroes – paratroopers sacrificed their lives protecting the homeland. The attendees honored the memory of the fallen soldiers with a moment of silence.
