On Saint Nicholas Day, Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited two kids – Artem Kyryliuk and Mykyta Baula, whose parents were killed during hostilities in Donbas, for a cup of tea in his office.
Earlier, these boys said they wanted to see the President of Ukraine. While talking to children at the President’s Office, the President noted that the most important thing was to have friends and relatives close to you.
“The most important thing is that you have people who support you, it is also important not to lose friends in life… We have a big country and you have many friends. We are all ready to help. Remember that you are not alone,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President invited children to his office to show where and how he works. The kids were most interested in the chair of the Head of State. The children asked Volodymyr Zelenskyy about his experience in filmmaking and whether it is difficult to manage the country.
“The most difficult thing is to remain human when working as President. And you also face the most difficult thing right now, because education is a great foundation. Without high-quality education, you cannot become an intelligent person. On the other hand, no matter what the job is, if you are ready for it,” the Head of State noted.
The kids also asked when there would be normal roads in Ukraine and when the corruption would end. The President suggested calling officials in charge of these areas – Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk and Head of the Security Service Ivan Bakanov.
Responding to questions from children, the Prime Minister said: “Together with the President, we are doing everything to increase the number of normal roads next year. But gradually. Part of the roads – 4 thousand km – will be repaired next year, and in five years we will do everything”.
For his part, the Head of the Security Service said that corruption in the country would end when everyone showed intolerance to bribes by personal example and acted according to conscience and law.
Artem and Mykyta also had a phone conversation with Head of the Office of the President Andriy Bohdan.
All officials congratulated children on Saint Nicholas Day.
During a meeting at the President’s Office, the guardians of the children asked Volodymyr Zelenskyy to solve the children’s housing problem. Of the eight children who became full orphans during the war and whose parents were killed in the ATO only these two were not provided with apartments. The President promised to resolve this issue.
