Worldwide search engine Google has announced that it will remove its shopping ads in Turkey as of Aug. 10 after a decision by the country’s Competition Authority that it should treat online shopping comparison services equally, the T24 news website reported on Wednesday.

Google said it is not clear if the proposals it submitted after the Competition Authority ruling were acceptable to the Turkish government and that it would remove the ads in order to be able to continue its operations in the country.

“We are hoping to resolve these problems in the coming months and to reach an agreement that would allow us to bring back shopping ads to Turkey,” it said.
