Turkey, Greece and Croatia may be put on Britain’s quarantine list as cases of COVID-19 in the countries rise, the Sun newspaper reported.

Any decision would come just days after Brits fled back from France, Malta and the Netherlands ahead of a deadline.

Tourists would be forced to quarantine for 14 days should Turkey, Croatia and Greece join other countries on the list such as Spain and Belgium the Sun said.

Turkey is seeking to persuade governments around the world to lift travel warnings on the country, fearing the collapse of its key tourism industry.

The tourism sector provided almost $35 billion in foreign currency revenue for the Turkish economy last year, a record amount, helping the authorities to steady the lira, which had slumped into a currency crisis in 2018.

The lira extended a record low on Monday, taking losses this year to almost 20 percent.

The Sun did not say where it got the information on the possible measure and when it might be implemented.
