According to an agreement that was signed during President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Moldova on October 17, 2018, Turkish and Moldovan citizens will be allowed to travel between the two countries, and to stay in the destination country for up to 90 days, without having to obtain a visa. This will be implemented from Tuesday 26 February 2019.

Turkish ambassador to Moldova, Gurol Sokmensuer, stated that Moldova is the most preferred holiday destination for Turkish tourists. Sokmensuer emphasized that the decision will make it easier for people to travel between the two countries.

“Last year, 35 percent of Moldovan tourists – about 80 thousand people – travelled to Turkey. We also know that 20 thousand Turkish tourists visited Moldova during the year. So, I believe the number of tourists from both countries will increase exponentially in the future,” he said.
