President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Ukrainians who were evacuated from the Chinese city of Wuhan and are currently under observation at Novi Sanzhary Medical Center in the Poltava region on the return to their homeland. The Head of State expressed hope that soon all of them will be able to go to their families.

“We all – I am sure – wish them good health and believe that they will be at home with their loved ones in the next few weeks. We keep saying that Ukraine is Europe. However, yesterday in some episodes it seemed that we are Europe of the Middle Ages, unfortunately. Let’s not forget that we are all human beings,” the President said during the award ceremony of the Ukrainian Startup Fund grant contest.

The Head of State noted that the world needed a startup that would make people more tolerant and teach mutual respect.

“I truly believe that in the near future we will all have a very important and necessary startup for our country and the world: the one that will teach some citizens humanity, respect, unity and the thing you have – critical thinking,” he added, addressing the audience.

Answering the questions of the media representatives, the President of Ukraine stated that the protests in several regions of the country against the placement of Ukrainians evacuated from China in the local medical institutions had had political support.

“The best conditions were provided in four places. One of them is in the Ternopil region. You know what it was. Unfortunately, I cannot call it human actions and do not want to pick up other words. Unfortunately, this happens. It’s not just people. I think ordinary people have nothing to do with it. In some cities, these pseudo-actions had political support,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The Head of State also expressed confidence that the law enforcement agencies would soon clarify the circumstances of the protests and their possible planned nature.

“I think we will also see very soon that people both in agitation against land reform and against seeing our citizens in Ukraine will coincide,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy added.
