In a stirring speech, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to international allies, emphasizing the urgency of standing united against authoritarian regimes and ensuring freedom’s triumph in the ongoing war against Russia. Speaking to a gathering of global leaders and friends of freedom, Zelenskyy expressed deep gratitude for the support Ukraine has received thus far, while also calling for greater determination in the face of growing threats.

“Everything we have achieved so far, and most importantly – everything we can still achieve, our people and our Ukrainian bravery – you have become a part of it,” Zelenskyy said, addressing those who have stood by Ukraine in its hour of need. He credited the collective choices, help, and resilience of Ukraine’s allies for keeping the spirit of freedom alive amidst the devastation brought by Russia’s invasion.

The Ukrainian president painted the conflict as a battle between two starkly different futures: one of freedom and democracy, and another dominated by violent, repressive regimes like those of Russia and Iran. “None of us would wish regimes like the Russian one, Iranian, or any other dictatorship, for our children. These regimes… always make wars, spill blood, and steal the future,” Zelenskyy warned, calling for the defeat of these regimes to ensure a better future for the world’s youth.

With critical months ahead, Zelenskyy made it clear that the outcome of the war will define the fate of global freedom. “We need to be faster. We need not to lose the next few months in war, so that we don’t lose the next decades,” he urged, outlining a Plan for Victory that he intends to present to U.S. President Joe Biden, the U.S. Congress, and other key global allies, including both U.S. presidential candidates, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

Highlighting the long-term stakes, Zelenskyy asked the audience to reflect on what kind of world future generations will inherit. “What will they believe in? Will they believe in the values that unite all of you… or will they lose hope, living in a world where wars are permanent?”

In a symbolic gesture, Zelenskyy drew attention to the “Golden Plate” awarded to honour those who achieve greatness in the freedom of peace, stating firmly that such recognition would never be granted to leaders like Putin. “There are no awards for killings they bring, for dreams they ruin, and for countries they burn.”

Closing with a hopeful tone, Zelenskyy reaffirmed the need for global unity and support, concluding, “We all need victory. And we all know why. And may that victory reflect each and every one of you and your support. God bless America.
