President met with Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with Vice-President of the European Commission for the Euro and Social Dialogue, Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union Valdis Dombrovskis.

The Head of State and the Vice-President of the European Commission discussed the need for an increased pressure on the Kremlin, in particular for Russia’s full implementation of the Minsk agreements, cessation of the crawling annexation of the Sea of Azov, release of all Ukrainian prisoners of war and return of the occupied territories.

The President commended the planned visit of Valdis Dombrovskis to the Ukrainian Pryazovia and made a proposal to develop a special package of the EU’s social and economic assistance to the region.

The interlocutors also discussed the state of implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding and the Loan Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on the Fourth Macrofinancial Assistance Program for Ukraine in the amount of 1 billion euros.

The Vice-President of the European Commission praised the efforts of the President and the Government of Ukraine to implement political and socio-economic reforms and assured that EU would continue to support Ukraine on the path of transformation and implementation of the Association Agreement.

The Head of State awarded Valdis Dombrovskis the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of the II degree “for a significant personal contribution to the development of cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union, significant achievements in defending state sovereignty and territorial integrity, support in the implementation of reforms and the European integration course of Ukraine”.
