During a speech at the 16th meeting of the Yalta European Strategy in Kyiv, the topic of which is “Happiness Now. New Approaches for a World in Crisis”, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy described his vision of happiness for the country and its citizens, as well as the steps that will help make Ukraine happy.

“Which country should we build? What does it need for happiness? It’s easy – to overcome enemies. And now it’s not just about geopolitics, I mean the enemies of our happiness. This is war, poverty, corruption and envy,” the Head of State said during his speech.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the achievement of that goal had been one of the reasons for him to go into politics. “True happiness cannot be individual. And it is unbearable to live in conditions where you feel uncomfortable for being happy. The one you raised in your family, the one you earned honestly, by yourself, by your work. And the one that markedly emphasizes unhappiness of many people who live around you. People who live in one country with you,” the President stressed.

The Head of State stressed that he and his team now had a reason for happiness. “This is the trust of the citizens of Ukraine. Great trust and, at the same time, great responsibility,” the Head of State explained.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that for him, his family, as for most people, the basis of happiness is a strong and united family, when the closest people are together and are not forced to live separately due to war, due to the need to earn money abroad; when they are able not to exist, but to live and meet their needs, do their business honestly and openly, think about education and work in their homeland, not abroad, enjoy the protection of the law enforcement agencies.

“What is our vision of a happy Ukrainian family? First and foremost – everyone at the table. There are no empty chairs. Those who bravely defend Ukraine must come back victorious. We must end the war and reclaim our territories,” the President emphasized.

The Head of State also wished the attendees to be truly happy in the best country in the world – Ukraine.
