Young scouts passed the Peace Light of Bethlehem on to the President of Ukraine

The Head of State thanked the children for the Light and kind words.

The children of the National Scout Organization of Ukraine and the Association of Ukrainian Guides passed the Peace Light of Bethlehem on to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

They stated that they were very pleased to be at the President’s Office with the honorable mission of passing on the Peace Light of Bethlehem.

“The motto of scouts and guides is to make the world a better place every day. That is why 33 years ago this wonderful initiative of passing the Peace Light of Bethlehem on to the countries having scouts emerged,” the children said.

The scouts recalled that they had been bringing this symbol of harmony, goodness and prosperity to Ukraine for over 10 years and expressed content that they could pass the Light of Bethlehem on to the President on Saint Nicholas Day.

“Each of us on this day is waiting for some miracle and the realization of a cherished dream, so let St. Nicholas visit every heart and every Ukrainian family. We want to wish our homeland prosperity, welfare, strength and patience on the path to peace. Guides and scouts know that the road to victory is very thorny and long. But our strength is in unity. Together we can achieve everything,” the representative of the Association of Ukrainian Guides noted, congratulating Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the holiday.

The Head of State thanked the children for the Light and kind words.

“It is a great honor for me to receive the Light of Peace. You said correctly – we really need peace. I think the heat from this fire is the most important thing, it can warm Ukrainians, especially our military who defend the borders of independent Ukraine,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President assured the young scouts: “You should know that we all work for the good of our country and for the sake of you. You are wonderful, our best Ukrainians, and I congratulate you and all the children of Ukraine on St. Nicholas Day”.

The children sang a festive song to the President, and in memory of the meeting presented him a catalog of good deeds. Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented gifts to the young guests in return.
