The authorities will draw up lists of low income categories of citizens to provide financial aid to the poorest Ukrainians during quarantine. It was noted during a daily conference call chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy aimed to fight the spread of coronavirus.

Currently, 669 cases of the disease have been reported in Ukraine, 120 of which have been confirmed in the past day.

“We see that quarantine is needed. I am sure it will save many lives. However, the government must find the money to help the poorest Ukrainians. Make a list as soon as possible and let’s calculate how much money we can allocate,” the Head of State told Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister said that the increase in prices for socially significant goods had been stopped, and the price of some products had even decreased.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers is developing a job creation program for those who came from abroad or lost their jobs due to the spread of coronavirus.

“We plan to create many jobs in a few weeks. In particular, we will need people to repair the roads, pave the sidewalks, clean up the areas. There are many different jobs,” Denys Shmyhal noted.

The parties considered the possibility of introducing additional, more strict quarantine measures. In particular, it was about the mode “everyone in masks” from April 6 to April 24 and the restriction on the number of people on the street. After all, the peak incidence of coronavirus is expected on Easter.

To prevent this, the authorities have negotiated with all television groups on the broadcast of Easter services. So far, only three TV channels have not responded regarding these broadcasts, but negotiations with them are continued.

The government is preparing a COVID-19 treatment protocol. Ukraine will buy medicines abroad to prevent complications of the disease and avoid the need for artificial ventilation.

Minister of the Interior Arsen Avakov said that Italy had asked Ukraine to help with medical teams. A number of countries have already provided such support to the Italian side.

“It would be good to provide a team of several of our specialists, say anesthesiologists, to Italy before we have the peak of the disease. Then they will come back with invaluable pandemic experience. However, we must ensure their full security and the best working conditions in Italy,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.

The Minister of the Interior also offered to help Italy by providing alcohol for medical purposes.

At present, 20,000 law enforcement officers monitor the compliance with the quarantine in Ukraine.

During a meeting, the parties also discussed the possibility of deploying mobile hospitals. Four such hospitals already operate in the area of the Joint Forces Operation.
