President Petro Poroshenko emphasized the importance of further development of the Ukrainian army and assured of the readiness of our troops to effectively resist the Russian aggressor. “For the Ukrainian army is the guarantor of sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of our state,” the President emphasized during the broadcast on Ukraine TV channel.

Answering the question whether the Ukrainian army is ready for a possible invasion of the 80,000-strong Russian military group concentrated on the border with Ukraine, the President stressed: “If, God forbid, someone decides to check the strength of the Ukrainian army and the Ukrainian state, even if it is the Russian Federation deciding to continue the offensive, it will pay a much higher price than in 2014”.

“If only in 2014 we had such an army as now, when, as Supreme Commander-in-Chief, I had to resolve the issues of the provision of not only helmets, knee pads or elbow pads, but also pants, socks, underwear, warm clothes,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The President added: “The warehouses were absolutely empty. The army was robbed, sold out, destroyed”.

“And compare how the Ukrainian army looks now,” the President said and invited the TV channel crew to visit the frontline positions of the Ukrainian army together with him.
