A mayoral candidate from the alliance of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) promised to “screw” rivals he described as enemies in an election rally speech.

Nihat Atlı, a candidate from the “People’s Alliance” of the AKP and MHP for mayor of the Kozan district of Adana, is seen in a video using profanity, Turkish media outlets reported on Tuesday.

“We will struggle to destroy these enemies until the last drop of our blood and with God’s permission screw them at home and abroad,” the MHP candidate told the crowd in the run-up to local elections on March 31.

Turkey’s government and its ally the MHP have targeted opposition candidates by portraying them as enemies and even terrorists during the election campaign.
