President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko visited a plant of LLC Discovery Drilling Equipment (Ukraine) during a working visit to Lviv region and inspected a new full-scale drilling rig, drilling equipment and maintenance of oil and gas wells.

The Head of State also spoke with the staff of the enterprise. “I am grateful for the fact that, jointly, during the war, we are developing the economy in order to make sure that Ukraine will be a member of the European Union, a NATO member. Ukraine will be a country of free, prosperous and happy people,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The President noted that in 2-3 years, it would be possible to ensure full energy independence of Ukraine and not to buy imported gas. According to him, it will become possible, inter alia, through the purchase of the drilling equipment from Discovery and the increase in our own production.

“Such companies as yours that pay salaries, ensure exports and currency inflow should be protected,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.

The President was pleased to hear that over the last 4-5 years the law enforcers stopped going to the enterprise with examinations. “What should a business do? Pay high salaries. We agreed that the salaries would increase. And pay taxes,” the Head of State said, adding that if the company had paid taxes, the security forces had nothing to do there.

At the same time, the state’s task is, in particular, to reimburse VAT under a transparent system and remove grounds for corruption in this area. The next steps, according to the President, are the introduction of the tax on withdrawn capital and the beginning of the work of the National Bureau of Financial Security.

“This is not a “mask show” (representatives of the law enforcement agencies – ed.), but analysts,” Petro Poroshenko said. The President noted that the financial analysis of the activity would allow us to clarify whether the company was working honestly or had created a scheme to cheat the state.

According to him, the steps will also be taken to facilitate export lending, so that production can be developed not at the expense of its current assets.

“We will provide opportunities for the return of Ukrainians from abroad. If there is an opportunity to earn 500-600 dollars, and on individual projects up to 1000 dollars, why should you go somewhere else? Work in Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko noted.
