A jailed woman named Hatice Sahnaz was sent bact to prison a day after she delivery her baby girl at a nearby hospital, media reported Saturday.

Arrested on Sept 4, 2018 when she was 3-weeks pregnant, the 28-year-old woman has been behind bars in an Antalya prison over her alleged ties to the Gulen movement since then.

Sahnaz was taken to hospital where she gave birth to her daughter the other day.

“The delivery started at around 1 or 2 in the morning. They took her to the hospital. The delivery was easy. My daughter Safiye and my wife are in good conditions. The only thing is that my wife feels a little under the weather. She hurts due to the stitches. From now on, we want the laws to be enforced. Don’t sent my wife and child back to prison,” MedyaBold quoted husband Huseyin Sahnaz as saying.

Hundreds of pregnant women have been jailed over Gulen links recently although the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) says “the punishment for pregnant women should not be executed.”

Turkey survived a military coup attempt on July 15, 2016 that killed 249 people. Following the putsch, the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government along with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pinned the blame on the Gülen group, initiating a widespread purge aimed at cleansing members of the movement from within state institutions, dehumanizing its popular figures and putting them in custody.

More than 511,000 people were detained since the summer of 2016.
