Kurdish politicians Ferhat Kut and Leyla Bozkurt along with four others were detained on Wednesday on accusations of membership in a terrorist group, the Diken news website reported.

The Mardin Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday ordered the detention of 10 people, including Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) politician Kut and Democratic Regions Party’s (DBP) Bozkurt.

They are accused of membership in the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has been waging a bloody insurgency in Turkey’s Southeast for decades.

Former HDP Co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ have been in jail since November 2016, while thousands of party members have been prosecuted over terrorism links.
