Turkish opposition deputy attacked by gunman in Malatya

The suspect reportedly fled the scene and is being sought by the police.

Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy Veli Ağbaba was attacked by a gunman during a meeting on Monday with party members in the eastern province of Malatya, the Artı Gerçek news website reported.

Nobody was killed or injured in the attack, allegedly carried out by a CHP member identified as Cihangir S., who took one shot in the direction of Ağbaba as well as provincial chairman Ali Aslan.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene and is being sought by the police.
