Ukraine and NATO will continue common strengthening of security and stability in the Black Sea region, as stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“We will also continue to jointly strengthen security and stability in the Black Sea region. We will increase information exchange, develop communication lines, intensify joint training events,” the Head of State said during a meeting with the media following the session of the NATO-Ukraine Commission in Kyiv.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Alliance for its assistance in building up the capabilities of the Ukrainian Navy, in particular for its naval base. “This is our priority and practical contribution to the security of the Black Sea region,” the Head of State said.
The President also thanked NATO for the opportunity to train Ukrainian cadets and sailors on the ships of the Alliance.
“We believe in the further support for the Ukrainian Navy by the Alliance,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
For his part, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke about the visit of the North Atlantic Council delegation to the Odesa Naval Academy the day before.
“Yesterday we visited the Naval Academy in Odesa and new language courses were offered there. We see how the training on board of the NATO ships goes and we see the results of practical cooperation and support for Ukraine,” the NATO Secretary General summarized.
