President: We have agreed on an updated package of projects and practical measures of NATO in support of Ukraine
In the context of further cooperation, Jens Stoltenberg said that there was a proposal to develop a single coordinated approach.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed of the agreement to update the package of projects and practical measures of NATO in support of Ukraine.
“Today we have agreed on an updated, consolidated package of projects and practical measures. We have discussed the prospects of our cooperation under the NATO Enhanced Opportunities Program. I have proved today that Ukraine is ready to move to this new level of partnership with the Alliance,” the President said during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg following the session of the NATO-Ukraine Commission in Kyiv.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed interest in expanding the program of civilian personnel training in the defense sector, improving the professional training of the Ukrainian military and improving the mine clearance opportunities.
“Our priorities include active interaction with the Alliance on the resilience of Ukraine to hybrid threats and enhancing cybersecurity. We intensify our work in the framework of the NATO-Ukraine Platform for Combating Hybrid Threats with the Coherent Resilience 2020 joint training in the Black Sea being the major event of it,” the Head of State said.
For his part, Jens Stoltenberg said: “Today, we have reviewed our comprehensive assistance package for Ukraine. Through trust funds, NATO allies and partners have allocated over EUR 40 million to support Ukraine in such areas as combat command and control, cyber defense and medical rehabilitation. It yields real results”.
In addition, NATO allies continue to provide military training for Ukrainian servicemen and Alliance’s advisers assist with security and defense reforms.
He also said the Alliance was increasing its support for security in the Black Sea region.
In the context of further cooperation, Jens Stoltenberg said that there was a proposal to develop a single coordinated approach.
“Now we want to bring it all together. We can then provide support to develop a holistic and unified, coordinated approach. And, in particular, when we meet in Washington, we want to reiterate the importance of these naval exercises, our political support, our practical actions for you,” the Secretary General of the Alliance said.
He reiterated the unwavering support of all NATO countries for Ukraine.
