Turkey will end the year with positive economic growth despite the coronavirus pandemic, Finance Minister Berat Albayrak said on Wednesday, according to Reuters.

“Despite this crisis, instead of contracting 5 to 10 percent, we will see positive growth at the end of the year, God willing,” Albayrak said in an interview with state broadcaster TRT Haber.

Fitch Ratings earlier this week forecast that Turkey’s economy would contract some 3 percent at the end of 2020.

Many developed countries declared contraction in the first quarter due to coronavirus lockdowns and measures, which decreased both production and consumption.
