President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy got acquainted with local roads during his working trip to the Cherkasy region.

Head of the Motor Roads Service in the Cherkasy region Vladislav Demidenko, said that funding is allocated primarily to ensure the functioning of international roads in the region. About 60 km of roads of various importance are repaired in a year. It is planned to do about 40 km of roads in this year.

The President asked whether it is possible to repair the road to Uman in a year.

Acting Head of the State Agency of Motor Roads of Ukraine Slavomir Novak said that this is possible with proper financing.

The President also stressed the importance of a ring road for residents of Cherkasy. Two kilometers of road have been repaired, and now we need to do just 9 km.

“It is necessary to do this year, because residents of the Cherkasy region are complaining about this road. They need this road. There are only 9 km” , Volodymyr Zelenskyy underlined.

The issue of roads was also raised during the meeting of the President with the public and representatives of the authorities of the Cherkasy region.

“The issue about roads is rather difficult. You have some roads which are not nationwide and therefore they do not build in the first place,” the Head of State said.

He suggested to raise the status of certain roads for their primary repair.

“We insistently asked to start making a ring road in Cherkasy in the near future. We know that there is still a tourist destination for development of Cherkasy – the road from Kaniv to Kremenchuh. We also asked them to build it. We even want to change the status of this road in order to build it first. We will do it as fast as we can, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.” According to him, this issue will be under the control of the new RSA Head.
