Ukraine should focus on the primary task of conducting the internal reforms that will bring our country closer to the NATO standards. It was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during the briefing in Brussels.

It goes about the implementation of the provisions of the law on national security, the reform of the Security Service of Ukraine, intelligence agencies, defense-industrial complex, as well as the provision of democratic civilian control in the security and defense sector.

“Stable, democratic Ukraine capable of defending itself is an integral part of European security. I am convinced that our special partnership with the Alliance will develop effectively. I hope that we will be able to transform our partnership into a full-fledged alliance in the future,” the President said.

For his part, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg assured that the Alliance would continue to provide Ukraine with strong support in various fields. Over 40 million euros will be allocated for this, in particular, for cyber security and medical rehabilitation.

“Mr. President, you have a strong mandate to introduce key reforms vital for the security and prosperity of all Ukrainians, as well as Ukraine’s rapprochement with NATO,” Jens Stoltenberg emphasized.

The NATO Secretary General also commended the adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to NATO standards.

“We will continue to support you on this path,” he noted.
