AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into comments made Sezai Temelli during a meeting in the eastern province of Van in Turkey.

Temelli, the co-chairperson of the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) made the comments on December 19, 2018, allegedly “making terrorist propaganda”.

Van’s office of the Chief Public Prosecutor is investigating what it calls an insult to the Turkish nation, the Turkish Republic and the state’s institutions and bodies in this mentioned Van speech.

Van is a town 1573 kilometers east of İstanbul.

The meeting where Temelli allegedly made the remarks was organized by the provincial wing of the HDP.

On the other hand, according to a provision stated in items of 146th article of 694 numbered legislative degree, the Van Office of the Chief prosecutor has no jurisdiction, and as such, the investigation file must be sent to the Office of the Chief prosecutor of Ankara.

Temelli: judges are biased towards AKP

In his addressing in Van, Temelli had said some judges in Turkey button up their gown in front of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Continuing his criticisms, Temelli said the judges even forgot those gowns have no knob.

“We had seen the worst of it. We saw some in the judiciary wearing the badge of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) on their collars. We also saw some of them judged like district organizations of AKP.

“I am calling out to all judges that protect the laws,” Temelli was heard during his address.

The HDP co-chair said during the same speech the only way to a peace process was to address the burning issue of the incarcerated Abdullah Öcalan, leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Meanwhile, around a dozen HDP lawmakers are currently in prison pending trial for terrorism-related offenses after their parliamentary immunities were lifted in May 2016.
