“I am convinced that Odesa region should become a leader of the East European tourism industry,” President Petro Poroshenko said during a working visit to Odesa region. He added that Odesa was the tourist capital of Ukraine, the maritime and cultural center of the state.
“Ukraine can be a leader in the sphere of tourism. Anyone who doubts that should come to Odesa and see its beauty,” he added.
Petro Poroshenko remarked that for the further development of the tourist destination it was necessary to have good roads. “We have completed the construction of the Odesa-Reni highway and start to build a number of roads that make Odesa a logistics center,” he said.
According to him, it is also necessary to complete the construction of the runway at the Odesa airport: “Today, it is an extremely ambitious task, which will significantly increase the flow of tourists to our Odesa”.
The President emphasizes that Odesa and its residents know well what the front of struggle against the aggressor is, as the warriors of the 28th brigade of the Naval Forces defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state. He also added that exactly here, in Odesa, five years ago, on March 2, the first resolution on the withdrawal of foreign troops had been adopted. At the same time, Petro Poroshenko stressed that the second front – the front of struggle against poverty – had been open.
The Head of State recalled that starting from March 1, three great steps had been taken in overcoming poverty: monetization of subsidies; indexing of pensions and payments for those who received pensions at the minimum level or below the minimum.
“This is not a single action. This will be done every year. And the next five years will be the years when we will fight poverty,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
According to him, it is very important that in the near future we can demonstrate the first decisive progress in this direction.
The President is also convinced that Ukraine will take leadership positions in the development of the IT sector; development of logistics and road construction, increasing the capacity of ports, airports; industrialization; development of agro-industrial complex.
“My dream is to build a successful country. A true regional leader, where happy, wealthy and free people live. I am sure that just as we preserved the international peace here in Odesa region, so we will preserve both unity and peace in Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko noted.
