President Petro Poroshenko emphasizes that his lawsuit against one of the Ukrainian TV channels is an instrument for protecting our state from the attempts to disrupt the situation in the country through the mass media.

“I emphasize that I have never sued journalists. And now I’m not going to do it. I made a decision and filed a lawsuit against the channel. This is an element of the protection of the Ukrainian state from the attacks of the major fugitive oligarch who sits abroad and thinks that he will control the strings of the Ukrainian puppets. We have to stop that,” the Head of State said on ICTV channel, commenting on the results of one of the studies, according to which the largest number of negative messages, paid messages concerned him.

“You will not succeed. There will be no revenge. Ukrainians have repeatedly shown a responsible choice, and I am convinced that the court will prove and nobody else will want to use the media to destabilize the situation in our country,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The Head of State noted that the aforementioned stories were very similar to those of Russian television about the “crucified boy” used by the aggressor for propaganda and hybrid information warfare against Ukraine.

“And to date, what we see on one of the national channels – I firmly believe that the “red line” has been crossed,” the President said.

The Head of State also recalled the events that took place almost three years ago, when one of the largest Ukrainian banking institutions – PrivatBank, was “actually made bankrupt, brought to liquidation” by its former owners. “Owners of PrivatBank, and this is Ihor Kolomoyskyi, have withdrawn billions of dollars from PrivatBank. I would like to remind that at that time, more than 20 million of Ukrainians were depositors of PrivatBank. And only professional actions of the Ukrainian National Bank, the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian Government managed to protect the interests of these 20 million. Kolomoyskyi then fled abroad and is now trying to destabilize the situation in the state with the stolen money,” Petro Poroshenko stated.

He also emphasized that “neither Kolomoyskyi nor Putin will decide who becomes the Ukrainian President”.

“The Ukrainian people have a sole constitutional mandate for this. And I will do everything necessary to protect the constitutional rights of the Ukrainian people,” the Head of State said.
