President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed regret over the absence of presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelensky who did not come to the debate at NSC “Olimpiyskyi”. The Head of State said he was ready to hold a discussion with his opponent on the other day. He suggested that candidate Zelensky should not refuse to participate in the debate in the studio of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine and in the evening broadcast of ICTV channel on Monday, April 15.
“I want to know for myself his position on the most important vectors of realization of the powers of the President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the guarantor of the constitutional rights and freedoms of the citizens, and the defender of Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko explained.
The President would also like to hear from presidential candidate Zelensky the position on negotiations with Putin and liberation of the Ukrainian territory occupied by Russia. “But for some reason, he does not tell it. I do not think it’s very good. This is not a disrespect for Poroshenko, this is a disrespect for the people and for the country, for the voters in the end,” he added.
“Pull yourself together and come,” he addressed Volodymyr Zelensky.
“I’m sorry that today Volodymyr Oleksandrovych wasn’t at Olimpiyskyi stadium, where he invited me. I’m sorry that the journalists did not have an opportunity to ask a question. I am sorry that people on this square also did not hear the answers to these questions,” the Head of State stressed.
“I hope that the show, which somebody tried to organize here on April 19, will be canceled,” the President said.
“We will do our best to create conditions for Volodymyr Oleksandrovych to come to the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine,” he added.
The President also noted that on Monday, April 15, in the evening, there would be a broadcast on ICTV channel, where Volodymyr Zelensky was also invited. “I was told when I was invited that you were invited, too. Consider is as a pre-announcement of the program. In fact, not Petro Poroshenko, but voters and viewers will be waiting for you. Respect them. Respect Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko addressed Volodymyr Zelensky.
