The Cabinet of Ministers has banned the export of ethyl alcohol from Ukraine. The corresponding decision was approved at a Government extraordinary session on March 23.

The prohibition on the export of ethyl alcohol or other distillates other than bioethanol and distilled beverages will be in effect until 1 June.

“Inspection posts at vehicular exits from ethanol companies should ensure the control of where and to whom the alcohol is shipped,” Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal commented on the decision made in the framework of quarantine measures to combat the spread of coronavirus in Ukraine.

Thus, ethyl alcohol will cover, first and foremost, the needs of the medical system. In particular, domestic medical enterprises and manufacturers of antiseptic will be provided with sufficient amount of alcohol.
