President Volodymyr Zelenskyy used the free service of qualified electronic signature embedding in the Ukrainian citizen’s ID card chip.

The Head of State visited the Obolon district office of the Central Interregional Directorate of the State Migration Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, where the leadership of the Ministry of the Interior and the State Migration Service presented the possibilities of issuing and using an ID card with a qualified electronic signature to the President.

Head of the State Migration Service Maksym Sokoliuk informed that the state had already issued 4.4 million ID cards. From now on, their owners can freely use a service of QES embedding in an ID card chip.

“You can use electronic services without having to leave home or office, inter alia, when opening a business,” Maksym Sokoliuk said.

In the Obolon district office, Volodymyr Zelenskyy passed the procedure of obtaining a Ukrainian citizen’s passport in the form of an ID card and returned the passport booklet.

Also, the migration service personnel embedded a qualified electronic signature in the document.

“Very cool. Very fast. The whole procedure took three minutes. Entering personal information took some time. There is an electronic signature,” the President said after receiving an ID card with a QES.

The Head of State said that the service of electronic signature embedding in the Ukrainian citizen’s passport, as well as the launch of Diia application, the presentation of which is scheduled for February 6, were examples of the implementation of the current government strategy “A State in a Smartphone”.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy got himself acquainted with the benefits of using a biometric document with a special reader (laptop) to get a remote access to the driver’s electronic account.
