Kirovohrad region has unique opportunities for investment – President

The Head of State stressed that the development of the road network of the region remained a pressing issue.

President Petro Poroshenko emphasized the unique opportunities of Kirovohrad region to attract investments in new projects in various spheres.

“Kirovohrad region today has unique opportunities for the modernization of the existing production and construction within the industrial parks, which will combine educational, scientific and production capacities together with the land lot and the network,” Petro Poroshenko said during a meeting of the Regional Development Council. He explained why investors would come to Kirovohrad region: “Unique logistics position, unique geographical position”.

The President noted the role of the regional and city authorities in attracting investors for the development of the region, in particular the logistics infrastructure.

Petro Poroshenko particularly noted the region as a powerful competitive agro-industrial region with great potential for growth in this area.

The Head of State stresses that Kirovohrad region also has significant prospects for the use of alternative energy sources, development of “green” energy.

“The first steps have already been taken. There are already 31 solar power stations in the region, their total capacity is up to 70 MW. By 2020 it is planned to put into operation another 18 power plants with capacity up to 200 MW,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The President said that with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, for which Ukraine is becoming the largest investment destination, the Ukrainian I&U Group has begun the construction of a 20 MW biogas plant at the Novomyrhorod Sugar Plant. “This will be the first project in Ukraine with the use of innovative gas production technology that will reduce energy consumption. The project will solve the problem of organic waste generated during the production of sugar,” Petro Poroshenko noted.

The President informed of the agreement on strategic partnership between RPE Radiy and Curtis-Wright Corporation (USA), which envisages joint projects on the modernization of nuclear safety systems in the USA using the innovative RadiCS platform. “Ukrainians provide nuclear security of the United States. And these Ukrainians are from Kropyvnytskyi,” the Head of State added.

The President also informed that the agreement was reached on the implementation of joint projects of the Korean companies and the Aircraft Academy of the National Aviation University on the development and production of drones in Kirovohrad region.

“Changes are taking place in the medical field. 10 of 18 rural clinics planned for construction are already working. I am pleased to note that Kirovohrad region is among the five regions in Ukraine, where telemedicine is actively being introduced,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The Head of State stressed that the development of the road network of the region remained a pressing issue. “Last year, one and a half times more funds were allocated for this issue compared with 2017. 192 kilometers of roads were put into operation after construction and repair. This year, one billion of the state budget funds will be directed to a strategically important road H-14 Oleksandrivka-Kropyvnytskyi-Mykolaiv, which has been one of the most problematic in the country for many years,” he said.

The President emphasizes the importance of the development of regional tourism, in particular, “green” tourism in Kirovohrad region.

“There cannot be a tourist periphery in Ukraine. We will develop “green” tourism in each village. In each city of regional subordination there should be a high-quality hotel, high-quality guides, interactive maps in many languages with explanations what can be seen in Ukraine,” he emphasized.
