President Petro Poroshenko thanked Volyn residents for their help in defending the state.
“Today is the day of the Ukrainian volunteer. And this day reminds us of the heroism of our people in the struggle against the Russian aggressor. Of the sons and daughters of the Ukrainian people who were the first to defend Ukraine. And there are many Volyn residents among them,” the President said, speaking with the inhabitants of Kovel.
“Thousands of your fellow countrymen have become members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Your area has become a reliable rear for the army, it has become the center of the volunteer movement. Thank you for everything done,” the Head of State emphasized.
“You know that I often come to the frontline as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. I always see the heroism of our soldiers,” the President noted.
The President noted that the Ukrainian soldiers had given an adequate rebuff to the aggressor and stopped the enemy. The President thanked the residents of Volyn for the support of the army, stressing that more than 170 people of Volyn gave their lives for the independence of Ukraine.
Petro Poroshenko stressed that Ukrainians would remember the price paid for the protection of their homeland.
“Everywhere in Ukraine there is a unanimous opinion – we will never surrender our land and our country to the enemy. We will never kneel down, although some presidential candidates are about to kneel, asking for Putin’s excuse and begging for mercy. No. Our nation is capable of protecting itself and returning every piece of Ukrainian land. We will develop in spite of everything, we have everything for this,” the President emphasized.
