During the participation in the Freedom of Speech program on ICTV channel, President Petro Poroshenko stressed that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should consider legislative changes in the reform of Ukroboronprom as urgent. The relevant bill is being prepared by the newly appointed Under Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Colonel Serhiy Kryvonos and will be submitted to the Parliament by the President of Ukraine as urgent.

“I trust Colonel Kryvonos. I trust the Armed Forces. He has a full mandate for pretty serious steps,” Petro Poroshenko said and reminded that the sphere of responsibility of the Colonel includes the reform of Ukroboronprom. The President also stressed that the NSDC had already taken a decision on the full audit of Ukroboronprom enterprises.

The President expressed confidence that there is support in the parliament for the reforms that can make the activity of Ukroboronprom more transparent. “This is about the revealing of some contracts of the state defense order and the involvement of foreign partners in the activities of Ukroboronprom,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The Head of State also said that staffing decisions on the composition of the Supervisory Board of Ukroboronprom would be adopted in the near future as the powers of certain members of this council have expired.

On Wednesday, the Head of State will take part in the tests of modern combat UAVs received by Ukraine under his agreement with President of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. “These unmanned aerial vehicles will significantly increase the combat capabilities of the Special Operations Forces and our combat units in order to resist the aggressor, minimizing the victims among the civilian population and the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the President said.
