A 24-year-old Turkish man was arrested on Tuesday due to remarks praising a shooting rampage in two mosques in New Zealand last Friday that claimed the lives of 50 people, Turkish media reported.

The man, identified only by the initials E.A, wrote on the popular Turkish online platform ekşisözlük, under the nickname “no ceiling,” that if those Muslims had not been killed, they would have become suicide bombers and killed innocent people. He wrote there is no peace or reason in a place where Islam prevails, and there never will be.

Police teams detained the man at home in the western province of Denizli and was subsequently arrested by a court.

Yet another ekşisözlük writer was arrested in the southern province of Antalya on Sunday the grounds that he praised the shootings in New Zealand Australian Brenton Tarrant, 28, a suspected white supremacist, was charged with murder on Saturday after a lone gunman opened fire at the two mosques during Friday prayers.
