President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy got acquainted with the quality of the repair of the road bridge № 2 (Novyi Bridge) during a visit to Dnipro.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the repair of the crossing had been made in due time – by September 14, but the quality of the work and the safety of the structures should be evaluated by experts.

“The mayor will personally provide me with materials, I will address a special commission for it to come and evaluate,” the Head of State told reporters during a bridge inspection.

Before that, rector of the Dnipro State Academy of Construction and Architecture Mykola Savytsky, told the President that the bridge had been opened for road transport, but questions remained about its load-bearing structures, the condition of which was unknown, and it could potentially be dangerous.

Scientists noted that the repair of the bridge was carried out in accordance with the design documentation, however more accurate assessment of the safety of the object requires additional research.

The President of Ukraine, for his part, expressed his disappointment that there were no serious expert conclusions on the safety of the bridge at the moment. “So I’ll figure it out, I’ll see the quality,” he said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said that his bet with mayor of Dnipro Borys Filatov about the bridge was continued. “I want to get the conclusions of the commission. People drive there, hence, the bridge is open. And if there are mistakes, if anyone falls down? I do not want to slander – I want to see (the results of the examination – ed.),” the President of Ukraine said.

Also, at the request of the Head of State, the mayor promised to redecorate those elements of the bridge that were reconstructed.

Do it good? Alright,” Borys Filatov said.
