A Turkish Interior Ministry report claims that 325 candidates for municipal councils from the Republican People’s Party (CHP), the İYİ (Good) Party and the Felicity Party (SP) are affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist group, the pro-government A Haber TV station reported.

Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu had mentioned the report a week earlier, stating that the ministry would release it closer to local elections on March 31.

Soylu claimed the PKK forced the CHP administration to nominate 14 people for municipal council posts.

Previously, the Interior Ministry appointed trustees to replace the elected mayors of dozens of towns and several cities due to the alleged PKK ties of the mayors.

Ninety-four of 102 municipalities won by the Kurdish Democratic Regions Party (DBP) are currently run by government-appointed trustees. The CHP, İYİ Party and SP formed an alliance for the local elections.
